ENTRY 3 Intelligent Design

Just to review before we move on (the teacher in me wants to make sure you’re comprehending!) let’s discuss what we have covered so far:

1) This is a blog/website made to reveal truths you might not know about the Bible – starting with Creation.

2) No matter what you believe, you put your faith in something be it God or man.

3) There are two types of science OPERATIONAL and HISTORICAL, but no matter what, the origins of the earth cannot be studied in a scientific way to EVER TRULY PROVE how the world began.

So here we are now.

In this post, I’m going elaborate on a subject known as Intelligent Design. I am not a “follower” of the Intelligent Design folks, but what I appreciate about this group of scientists (in Biology, Physics, Astronomy and many others) is that they followed the science in their experiments and found that the evolutionary models couldn’t explain their findings.

Now let me digress….

Most people believe that those who make up the Intelligent Design group are Christians trying to get the Biblical Creation account into schools. They are not.

They are actually a group of scientists from many different backgrounds both religiously and academically who noticed how elaborate the physical world around them proved to be. So much of their findings made them conclude that what they were discovering could not have “developed” because of a long time evolutionary model, but in fact looked to have a “designer.” Therefore, they started this Intelligent Design movement.

Let me ask you something….are you artistic? Creative? Have you ever constructed anything? Are your creations made out of pure chance or do you put some thought into it? How would anything you made turned out if there wasn’t some design or forethought in your plan? That is the idea behind Intelligent Design. These scientists are not Christians. In fact, there is a wide variety of religions in this group. There are Muslims, Jews, and other non-Christians who all comprise the Intelligent Design community.

What I love about the ID folks is that they truly followed the science. They didn’t start with a route in mind and then no matter what made sure their “evidence” followed the typical evolutionary lines. They saw what was in front of them and realized they had think outside the evolutionary box. And here is something else you might keep in mind….they have taken a lot of heat for making this stand, something I find commendable.

When I was teaching in Kansas, there was a movement to try to get Intelligent Design taught in the classroom. It was fought like crazy because people viewed it as Christianity. I was obviously always disappointed because as a science teacher and lover of true science, I thought we were supposed to keep an open mind to all theories, but as stated previously, too many people thought this was just a way to get the Bible in the classroom.

I am a young-world Creationist. I believe God created the world in six days. I do not subscribe to the Intelligent Design philosophies but I do find it interesting that especially in the realms of Biology and Physics many scientists didn’t think they could explain their findings using evolutionary models. As an open-minded person, I also believe this is evidence towards another theory outside of evolution.
