If you have made it with me this far, thank you. I appreciate your patience and fortitude! I hope the information I presented has either encouraged you or caused you to think more about what the Bible really says and ultimately, where you put your faith.
We live in a world that constantly claims to be seeking truth, and yet it seems the general public is always looking to man to provide that truth. Unfortunately, man will always let you down. Even the best person on the planet is sinful and fallible. In the Gospel of John 8:31-32 it reads “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!’”
Do you know how you feel when you learn a real amazing truth? How does that make you feel? Amazing? Liberated? Astounded?
Jesus knew truth mattered
Jesus knew truth mattered because truth changes lives!
I am claiming that the Bible is true. However, just me making this claim doesn’t make the Bible true. However, I know witnessing it myself that when someone starts reading the Bible, it changes their life. That is what is so fascinating about the Bible! The Bible’s impact on people’s lives demonstrates its impact and its truth. If you don’t believe me, read it for yourself!
Let me give you a little more information about why this book is so amazing. The Bible is so amazingly unique…let me list some facts and see what you think.
There are 66 books
These books were written over the course of 1500 years
There are 40 authors
The Bible was written in 3 different languages (Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic and the New Testament was written primarily in Greek)
The Bible was written on 3 different continents (Africa, Asia and Europe)
The Bible was written by these 40 authors in completely different situations…some were written during prosperity, some during times of poverty, some during war and some during peace.
The authors of the Bible have completely different backgrounds! It was written by kings, shepherds, prophets, fisherman, physicians, and rabbis
The Bible covers a variety of controversial issues such as sex, politics, violence, family, marriage business ethics, and child-rearing
Now with all I just listed, you would think that there would be disparity or a variety of opinions and ideas BUT what you find is an amazing UNIFIED TRUTH from beginning to end.
Isn’t that right there kinda amazing? All that variety and yet only one message of truth throughout the whole book?
I know I have mentioned this in other posts, but I am always amazed by the number of people I learn about who read the Bible in an attack mode – their goal being to prove the Bible wrong or discredit it in some sort of way. In the midst of their battle, their life is changed because simply reading it changes lives!
The truth will set you free!
I’m not sure where you sit right now in your belief system. I have no idea who will ever read the words I’m jotting down right now, but I can’t help but think there is some reason God wants you reading these words today. I hope you will take the nudge that God might be pressing on you and seek out to learn more.
